The thermostat is most likely the source of the problem. Focus your initial root cause analysis here because you have the best chance of resolving the issue without calling in a professional.
First, ensure that the fan is not set to "on." If your fan is set to steadily blow, it will eventually blow cold air. If your fan is set to "on" at all times, it will blow cold air during the furnace's idle time. Set your fan to "auto" to sync it with the furnace, and you'll only have hot air blowing, not cold.
Another simple problem with your thermostat is a low or dead battery. However, thermostat batteries last a long time, so if your thermostat is old, this is more likely to be a problem. Inspect the batteries before calling an HVAC professional, and you might help in saving yourself some money.
A furnace tune-up service typically costs between $70 and $200 for a gas, electric, or oil furnace. A standard furnace inspection costs between $70 and $130, which includes a diagnostic report and basic cleaning. An annual furnace tune-up and inspection costs $150 to $500.
Ventilation and air exchange are important components of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system that help maintain clean air. You should keep an eye on the ventilation in your home.
First, examine the outdoor vents. The outside vents must be open for this to happen. Inspect your system on a regular basis to ensure that it is operating properly and that the vents are open.
Also, maintain the cleanliness of return air vents inside. The air quality in your home is also affected by the vents inside your home. Return air vents are the large vents on your wall that pull your indoor air back to your heating and cooling system. Change or clean the filters every month.

Hi Frank-I'm sorry you feel this way. The price you paid is the cost for us to send a fully licensed and trained tech in a fully stocked truck (on a weekend no less) to your home to fix your furnace. You could have declined the price if you did not agree with it. If we only charged $25 for a repair, we would not be able to pay employees let alone offer them healthcare for them and their families. I would encourage you to call around to other local HVAC companies and compare pricing as I assure you that we are competitive, otherwise we would not still be in business after 72 years. The cost you paid covers the parts, labor, company overhead and a 10% profit. I think 10% profit is fair for the service we provide. Thanks for your comments and we wish you the best in finding another HVAC company that suits your needs.
