When Do I Need a Repair?
There are a few different signs that could signal that it’s time for a repair on your heating and cooling system. Some of the most popular signs include:
- Not cold or hot air being produced
- Strange noises
- Strange odors
- Water leaking from your furnace
If you are experiencing any of these issues, your best bet is to first check your furnace filter to see if it is still clean. A dirty filter is the most common contributor to furnace and air conditioner breakdowns. If your filter looks ok, it’s best to call a professional HVAC company to come and take a look.

1990 Lennox air conditioner. Completed mechanical, safety, and performance test on air conditioner. All okay at this time. Concern with hot water tank. Pipe coming in is very corroded and can potentially burst at some point. Tank is also leaking from pressure relief valve. Also butterfly valve for outside spigot shutoff leaking. Discussed concerns with customer. His son is a plumber and he is going to have him take care of it.
2020 comfortmaker air conditioner. Completed mechanical, safety, and performance test on air conditioner. All okay at this time. Customer mentioned filter cabinet door is to low and scrapes on the rafter when changing the filter. I attempted to cut a small amount of the door to resolve issue but filter door broke off. Bent and installed new filter door and taped with small amount of insulation tape to keep door nice and shut tight to prevent bypass airflow.

Lennox gas furnace. Customer head reset furnace at breaker. Cycled unit a couple times without issue. When testing again furnace tripped on high limit. Found issue to be with plugged air filter. Customer said he would go ahead and change the filter. I recommended filter to be changed every 30 days to prevent this issue from happening again on the future.

2017 rheem hot water tank. Water is coming out very Luke warm. Thermostat on water heater set to hot. Turned thermostat to max and water heater not kicking on. Ran hot water for roughly 3-4 minutes and water did not heat up and water heater burners did not kick on. Gas valve/ thermostat assembly failed, recommended replacement. I was unable to acquire water heater parts for this unit from our suppliers. Number on the unit to call for parts is continuously ringing user busy. Customer has this unit put in 3 years ago. Purchased it from Home Depot and then a third party company did the installation. They are calling around to find information for possible warranty on the unit. Suggested they could call a plumber who deals directly with rheem and see if they may have access to the parts. I did give estimate on a replacement 50 gallon tank for $1619, $110 additional for expansion tank. Customer would like to take some time to figure out what they want to do. Let them know to call us if they
